Nervous patients are particularly welcome
Around half of the population does not visit the dentist – and a quarter of those fail to do so because they are too afraid. These statistics worry us. Dental phobics often avoid the dentist until they are in pain – and that’s not the best way to start a dental appointment for even the most confident of patients.
Please don’t neglect your teeth because of fear of the dentist, as we can help. Our dentist Lyndsey Beecroft and her nurse, Christine, are experienced in the treatment of anxious patients and offer intravenous or IV sedation, a drug that is administered though an injection in the back of the hand and you will feel complete relief from anxiety.
- You are conscious throughout treatment
- You will feel calm and relaxed
- Treatment will feel like it has taken only minutes
- Sedation allows complex dentistry to be carried out in one visit
- The effects of IV sedation wear off quite quickly
Relaxed and calm
IV sedation does not actually induce sleep; instead, you remain conscious and can follow instructions from your dentist and communicate well. You may feel as if your treatment has only taken a matter of minutes when it may have taken longer. This allows us to carry out complex dental treatment, which may normally take several visits, in fewer appointments. The effects wear off quite quickly, enabling you to be escorted home by a friend a short while after your treatment.
