We aim to make every visit as comfortable as possible by allowing plenty of time for appointments to help us understand any particular smile aspirations, concerns or issues you may have. Our new patient appointment lasts for 30 minutes and this, and your regular examinations, include a thorough 12-point health check and mouth cancer screening for your reassurance.

Our 12-point approach to health

1. We will take time to discuss your problems or concerns.
2. Medical status – we will check your medical history with you at each visit to ensure we have up-to-date records.
3. Health of your teeth – is there any decay or erosion?
4. Stability and integrity of your restorations - are your crowns, fillings etc still strong and stable?
5. Oral cancer screening – we will check your lips, tongue, cheeks and glands.
6. Jaw joint – we will examine the way your teeth meet together as misalignment can cause headaches.
7. Gum health – we will thoroughly examine the health of your gums every 6 months.
8. Oral hygiene – ‘brushing’ and ‘cleaning in between the teeth’ demonstrations are given using our computers.
9. Your plaque levels will be assessed.
10. Bleeding levels – these are assessed and compared to previous visits.
11. X-rays – these are rechecked every visit and retaken every 1-3 years depending on your need. X-rays allow us to check underneath restorations and between teeth and also to make sure your bone levels are stable.
12. Are you happy with the appearance of your smile? We will discuss all available options for any treatment you require and will always provide you with a written estimate of any costs involved.
