At your initial consultation, we will assess your teeth, dental health, and suitability for veneers. From here, we can pinpoint your target areas and make certain that you receive the best treatment to achieve your desired outcome.

    When preparing your tooth (or teeth) for veneers, some of the shiny outer enamel surface may be removed. This step may sometimes be carried out using a local anaesthetic, though for the majority of patients there is minimal discomfort. Once the tooth is prepared we will take a dental impression of your teeth to ensure the veneer we construct fits perfectly into your smile and can be colour-matched to your existing teeth. The third step is fitting the veneers onto your teeth, so you can grin with confidence again!

    About veneers in Kent

    1. What are veneers made of?

      Veneers can be made of two types of material: either dental composite, or porcelain. It is strong, sturdy, and colour-matched to your natural teeth to ensure your veneer blends seamlessly into your smile. It is bonded to your teeth by a specialist adhesive to keep your veneer in place.

    2. What happens after my veneer is fitted?

      Only minor adjustments can be made to the veneer after it is fitted, and we usually recommend waiting a little while to get used to it before we make any changes. We will check, monitor, and polish your veneer a week or so after it is fitted to ensure that you are totally happy with your treatment.

    3. How long will my veneers last?

      Veneers should last for many years after they are fitted provided they are cared for properly. They can chip or break just like your own teeth can, and while chips can be repaired, breakages will need replacing. If you take care of your veneers as attentively as your natural teeth, then they should last you many happy years.

    4. How do I care for my veneers?

      You should care for your veneers like you would with your regular teeth. Brush at least twice a day, floss regularly and visit your dentist for check ups. You can increase the longevity of your veneers by avoiding chewing hard foods, using a gentle, non-abrasive toothpaste and avoiding smoking and drinking alcohol excessively. If you struggle with Bruxism (teeth grinding) it would also be a good idea to wear a mouth guard to protect your veneers from any damage this may cause.

    5. Will I need a temporary veneer between my appointments?

      Because the preparation of the teeth to be treated is so slight, you will probably not need a temporary veneer. The tooth will look very much the same after preparation but will feel slightly less smooth to the touch.
