How Invisible Braces Work
Braces used to mean fixed metal brackets, wires, and a lot of pain and discomfort. They still do now, but only if you opt for the ‘traditional train-track style. Nowadays, especially when visiting our Kent dental practice, there are so many options available for more discrete and relatively faster-acting braces. When you want to sidestep the commitment and discomfort of traditional, lingual braces, then these invisible braces could be perfect for you. But if they’re not fixed to your teeth, metal, and are completely different from their traditional cousins, then how do invisible braces work.
Because there are now multiple options out there, it depends on the type of invisible braces that suit you…
How do Invisalign Invisible braces work?
Invisalign is personalised to you, so they work on an individual basis. When we create your Invisalign aligners, we take detailed impressions and 3D imaging of your teeth to create multiple sets of aligners just for you. Each aligner is in a slightly different shape to those that came before it, so your teeth are gently guided into position rather than being forced by fixed braces. This allows you to adjust to treatment easily without nearly as much discomfort and dental trauma as traditional braces. There’s no need to extract teeth, they’re clear for optimum discretion, and they’re even removable!
How does the Inman Aligner work?
The Inman Aligner targets specifically the crowding of the front teeth. This means that you don’t need to commit to the long-term wearing of braces when you’re seeking to fix a relatively targeted area. The aligner uses clear plastic placed across the front of your teeth and is controlled via metal wires and clasps. These springs compress two pieces of clear plastic against the back and front of your front teeth, gradually pushing them into a more uniform and straightened position. This pushing motion is far more comfortable than the fixed traditional braces’ forceful movement, and the aligner is removable so there is no need to limit your lifestyle. The constant pressure on your teeth could achieve your results in as little as 6 weeks and is a great way to straighten a problematic area effectively.
How does the ClearSmile Brace work?
When you’d like straighter teeth but don’t suffer from bite issues, fixed braces are a huge hassle. You don’t need them for the sake of your health, but you need them to feel confident in your smile and straighten a few wayward teeth. This is where ClearSmile comes into its own. This brace focuses on your most visible 10 front teeth, straightening your social smile rather than your medical bite. This is the only cosmetic brace system we offer that is fixed, but it’s made of tooth-coloured brackets and wires to ensure it is as discrete as viably possible. Though it uses the same method to straighten your teeth, it is relatively more comfortable and faster-acting than traditional braces because of its targeted treatment.
